Winter issue of quarterly review, 'Studies', focuses on dying, death and bereavement |
|
The Winter 2009 issue of the influential publication, Studies, was launched in the IHF on Monday, 7th December, by RTE's Michael O Muircheartaigh.
Published quarterly by the Irish Jesuits, Studies examines Irish social, political, cultural and economic issues in the light of Christian values, and explores the Irish dimension in literature, history, philosophy and religion.
In this issue of Studies, a range of contributors, including actor Gabriel Byrne and Dr Maurice Manning consider aspects of dying, death and bereavement. Topics include:
- hospice care in Ireland;
- end-of-life care in our hospitals;
- the issues raised over the past year through the 'Forum on End of Life in Ireland' (an IHF initiative);
- the design of healthcare facilities; and
- the development of a supportive public policy on end of life.
